In a 'glass is half empty' mood.

I'm feeling like utter shit after work today! My Regional Manager came out to speak with me, to see how things are going. They’re not going very well apparently. She showed me the sales and where we were at after two days, and we were at number 12 on the list, we are usually at #2 by the end of the week! Mondays and Tuesdays aren't very busy; it's not unusual for us to be that slow, and it’s not like we’ve been in that place at this time of other weeks. It's still very shattering to know that that's where we are, and I honestly don't know if Managing what I want to do. I think it would be different if I was coming into a completely new kiosk and staring from scratch. But coming up to manager of a 1st or 2nd placing kiosk in sales and keeping it there is a very daunting task. I like the paper work and keeping things in order, but I just don't want the stress of hitting targets like that. I'm only 20, I really don't need to be worrying about things like that, I quite like being second in charge; where I got to do most of the paper work, keep things in order, helping and motivating staff, but not having to worry about anyone’s targets and budgets but my own. The Regional Manager told me I need to stop worrying about those kinds’ things, so I can’t help but wonder why I was shown those figures then. I would think it would be obviously overwhelming.

One possibility is that I go back to 2IC, do most of the managers tasks still, except for worrying about targets and not having quite so much pressure put on me. My previous manager of the kiosk who is my mum, but didn't get me the job or treats me any better than any other of the staff, and it annoys me something fierce when people think that! is managing a new kiosk, but will probably end up managing both. Mostly being at the new kiosk, while I do most to keep things running at the one I'm at now, but won't have the stress of being responsible for meeting the overall kiosk targets.

I still can't help but think I'm a failure, and this is what I was always worried would happen when I took this position up.

(I post too many unhappy entries; I really am a mostly happy person.)

Edit: Please forgive the complete abuse of commas! I probably should've checked that before posting, I also could edit them... can't quite be bothered enough to do so though. :/

WEEKLY READING LIST

(I got a bit lazy and couldn't even be bothered to copy and paste. ;p)

Feb. 3rd, 2009

When I say you are dirty man, I don't mean it as a turn on!

I had this greasy bogan guy wink at me in the sleazy 'how you doin?' way at work today... Urgh!

I've also noticed a lot more older men thinking it's appropriate to stare at my boobs and quite obviously. There was a really bad time when I was sitting at Starbucks on my lunch break and was wearing my work uniform which is so far from revealing it's not funny. Still didn't stop this creep from just staring at my chest while standing right in front of me when he was lining up for his order, not just for a few seconds then look away kind of thing either, it was just full on staring like I was there for his pleasure! I did what I always do when this happens; give the dirtiest 'yes I can see what you are doing you fucking dirty pervert, stop it now before I punch you' glare, shake my head and scowl which usually puts an end to it. Didn't stop him though, I had to get up and leave it got so bad.

Another time I was out a Saturday night, when I got a whole group of sleazy old men give the up and down to my friend and I.  When they started to turn around in their chairs as we were walking by, I said really loudly; "You know what I hate? Dirty old fucking perverts who think they can stare and be pigs when a female walks past!" The DOFPs got a shocked look and turned around pretty quickly after that. I’m really shocked that they were so surprised as soon as I said that, like they don’t think I’m going to do anything and just let them get away with it.

On to something completely different now.

I've got a work conference over the weekend. I get to go fly down to Sydney for the first time, (I've been to rural NSW... by train, but never actually seen Sydney) and will be staying in this awesome 5 star hotel with all food, accommodation and air fair paid for!! There are a few work meetings and such of course, but all the big bosses are really nice, and I get along really well with all the Queensland staff that are also going so it should be fun! :D

I honestly have no idea how I manage to read so much. Probably won't get a chance to read as much for the next few weeks while I get settled into a new routine, but I definitely need to catch up with all the Harry Potter fics I've got growing in my 'to read' list... But the Merlin fandom is proving to be so very shinny!!

I really need help choosing. Please?

I've really been thinking about taking some drawing courses lately. It's always been in the back of my mind to learn some proper technique, instead of just putting pencil to paper, and hoping what I picture to try and draw gets translated to paper. I won't go on and on with 'woe me' because I've already done that in an earlier entry. ;p (and I really just can't be bothered.)

I've found a place that I think can really teach me a lot. The thing is they hold both foundation and practical (advanced) drawing classes. What I'm looking for an opinion on is which one to take. My mum doesn't even want me to do it, and my friends are all slightly biased and are either to critical or not enough to help me decide. I also don't want to pay $175 to learn what I'm already capable of, but more so I don't want to pay $350 and it be to advanced for me.

Here are the links to both the foundation and practical courses;
Foundation
Practical

Here is also my DeviantArt page to show what I'm able to do already. (You'll notice I draw in a lot in the same perspective, which is what I'm trying to improve on)
DeviantArt

So I'd really like some unbiased opinions on what I'd be best off choosing.

P.S. I'd like to note that this post has nothing to do with the icon I've chosen to use. I just recently found a screen-cap of Colin Morgans part in the Catherine Tate Christmas Special, where he's 'a gay man now' and I really couldn't help myself from making an icon of it, and using it for no apparent reason other that his expression and edible penises are 'Win!!'

Draco Fanart Completed

So It's finally all coloured, and now completed! All in all it took me approx 5hrs for colouring, and sadly about 2hrs for the pencil drawing (way too long).  I'm so happy with how it finally turned out. It's my 3rd drawing I've coloured in photoshop and using a graphics tablet, so there is still a lot of room to grow and better my technique.

I'd love to here what people think of the finished version... please. :D

(I need to stop editing the posts for this entry! I removed the preview image, there really isn't a need to have one... and now thats the last time I'm going to change this post. I swear!!)

Edit: So even though I said I wouldn't change it again, I did anyway! I touched up a few things that needed to be blended, and also darkened the outline of his face. My perfectionist personality is now satisfied with how it turned out. Seriously this time. ;p

Dec. 27th, 2008

So I had planed to finish the coloured version of my fanart. And I really didn't want to do another entry except for the finished version, but I'm going to anyway, because I need the motivation :p.

Whenever I post WIP here, I feel a lot more motivated to get it done a lot sooner. So hopefully I'll get time to finish this over the next fortnight, instead of the next few months.

(I would finish it now, but I found a site that I could watch Merlin online...)

(attempted) Draco Fanart

I realized I should start actually posting in this account. It'll be the same as whats in my LJ, but you can never pimp yourself out too much right? Anyway, here's a entry from a couple weeks back. It's my first attempt at HP fanart, and I figure it's a good entry to start with.

I wanted to make it larger in this post but it only made it warp the image, so if you want to see it larger just click on it again and it will take you to my  LJ scrapbook version.
